Texas: A Non-Factor

Jan 9th, 2012 | By | Category: All Things Texas & Events, Featured

If you have read anything by me, you have noticed that I am unapologetic Texan. We are the best! We are biggest! And if we didn’t think of it first… then we will jimmy-rigg-it to make it better!

So why are we 16th fiddle to Iowa (of all places)? With respect to our most precious of national past times… PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS?!?!

New Hampshire… pah-leeze!! We are lumped in with 13 other primaries with NOTHING… Wait..! Make that 3 other non-factor primaries –> 1 month behind our usual SUPER Tuesday seat… judges!

When will ‘our legislature’ do something about this? (or do they have anything to do with it?) Numbers are mounting a charge for this change and they are doing it up in Houston this weekend to put Texas into the fold with our very own STRAW POLL – SADDLE UP TEXAS STRAW POLL!

This from their site with a good point on Texas’ state, national and global impact:

Texas holds a rich and diverse landscape of people from all walks of life that have genuine concerns about traditional values of moral decency, responsibility in government, and sound constitutional principles being preserved and uplifted in our Texas and American societies.

Despite Texas’ apparent political clout as holder of the second largest delegation to the Electoral College and the second largest population in the United States, its position in the primary election, which is governed by political parties, is significantly and detrimentally out of balance to its general election influence.

Texas is a critically vital part of the U.S. economy, currently providing a statistically and disproportionately high contribution to the nation’s job growth, GDP, and positive production across nearly every sector of the free market. In 2010, Texas created more jobs than all other states combined.[i] Texas is the 14th largest economy in the world as of 2009[ii].

Citizens from every corner of Texas have come together to bring Texas’ influence forward as an integral part of the national primary election process through a grassroots organized presidential straw poll, called the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll, which is designed to give Texans an appropriate voice in the Primary.

Good luck to this great event and make it a regular event! TheTexanOnline.com SALUTES YOU!
