Oil – A Blessing or a Curse by Richard Clough
Jul 6th, 2010 | By Brandi Jo | Category: UncategorizedOur dependence on foreign oil is the greatest threat to America since we became a nation! In 2008, our country imported $475 billion dollars of oil. In ten years that will equate to almost $5 trillion going to other countries! This is the greatest transfer of wealth the world has known. What would happen in America if that money stayed in America instead of going to countries around the world who do not share our same values? Getting off our dependence on foreign oil is not an option! For the sake of national security, Americans need to come together on this issue today.
It is estimate that global demand for oil will grow from 85 million barrels a day to 110 million barrels a day by 2025. Unless we get off oil, the world-wide demand for oil will continue to grow. Do you like paying more because someone in China or India wants more oil? Do you like paying more because of instability in the Middle East? Even if we could force oil companies to drill in Alaska and had oil platforms all up and down our entire coastlines, we still could not supply the World with enough oil; and we would not stop giving power to terrorists, nor would we get cleaner air and water!
I believe in electric battery and hydrogen cell technology. But neither battery nor hydrogen are ready today for widespread distribution in a country like ours with approximately 250 million cars and light trucks. A battery also won’t push an 18-wheeler. The only current fuel which is available to reduce our dependence on foreign oil is domestic natural gas. Yes, I am a proponent of T. Boone Pickens Plan.
Natural gas is bountiful in the United States with enormous deposits in Texas, Louisiana and Appalachia. A recent study estimates that natural gas reserves in the U.S. are equivalent to Saudi Arabia’s oil reserves. Natural gas is cheaper and cleaner than diesel, and it is abundant.
By getting off oil we will stop terror, we will stop Iran from threatening nations, and we can do it all without firing one shot or seeing one American die because of a terrorist threat. Our energy policy should not dictate our foreign policy.
My book, The Truth Behind Gas Prices outlines a plan that will lower prices, give us energy independence and give us national security. Take action and keep America the greatest nation in the World.
Credentials: Richard Clough is a former Texaco/Shell gas dealer who learned the secret inner workings of the oil industry first hand. Richard was also party to litigation against a major oil company.
