Faith Like a Mustard Seed by Nick Gresham

My first experience with faith was through my grandmother, Lena Gresham. She never sat me down and told me in detail about faith and how it worked, but she didn’t have to. Her actions in life every single day showed me and gave me examples of how she lived in faith.

If you knew grandmother, you knew that she stayed on top of bible study and all church activities. She found opportunities to serve others, in some way or another, even if it was calling someone and checking up on them. Despite being on a fixed income, she always made sure to give back to the church and I assure you, she never did without a thing. Grandmother made sure that not only Sunday was set aside for God, but in everything she did it seemed that she always put God first.

Finally, through grandmother’s walk in life, believing in Jesus Christ, she gained so much wisdom, peace, hope, love and understanding about life, that I knew that I had to search and seek in my own life for what she had and it was called faith.
There are two scriptures that come to mind that help me explain what faith is all about:

First Matthew chapter 7:7-8
7: Ask and it will be given to you: seek and you will find: knock and the door will be opened to you.
8: For everyone who ask receives: he who seeks finds: and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Second Matthew chapter 17:20
20: Jesus replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard see, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Once a non-believer has tried all of the world’s resources and still keeps coming up empty handed on rock bottom, then and only then are they ready to use that little faith as a mustard seed and start asking, seeking and knocking on God’s door. Then and only then will the person start seeing the blessings of God, Life through Jesus Christ and experience the peace, love and hope that we have all longed for at one time or another in our life.

By putting your faith into something unseen and reaping the spiritual and physical blessings from God through Jesus Christ there is no way on earth you can not become a believer in Jesus Christ for eternity.

The more I react in faith and the more response from God I receive I feel that my faith gets stronger and stronger. At the same time, I am learning how to rely on God and to not stress during the bad times, because of the understanding which comes through faith, through prayer, bible study and church attendance.

Faith in my life is something that I do not regret having. It is something that I don’t see how I could live without and it gives me peace and hope in trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior.

If this article has done anything for you, I challenge you to start with prayer. Ask God to help both mine and your relationship with God through faith. Life is not meant to be as bad as the world makes it on us. Through faith, God can show us positive things through scripture about what is ahead and what God has promised us not only in heaven but here on earth, not just today but each every day to come.
