Texas: A Non-Factor
If you have read anything by me, you have noticed that I am unapologetic Texan. We are the best! We are biggest! And if we didn’t think of it first… then we will jimmy-rigg-it to make it better! So why are we 16th fiddle to Iowa (of all places)? With respect to our most precious

About TheTexanOnline.com
Born into a family of bankers, cattlemen, oilmen and good ol' boys. Brandi Jo Newman learned at an early age how to communicate with different personalities and egos. She started playing golf at age 6 with lessons from her mother, a cattle baroness. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University in pursuit of a forestry degree. She later left college to pursue her dream of playing on the LPGA Tour. After injuries and a drive for something more, Brandi Jo worked with A.G. Edwards and Merryll Lynch and soon learned that the financial services industry is about people and not products. Trust and integrity between client and advisor are the foundation to the relationship. In late 2003, Brandi Jo began her independent financial services career under the guidance of Joe Kane. She has built a solid reputation for helping her clients work towards their dreams of economic freedom.
After the passing of her father, M. Terry Newman, Brandi Jo Newman added Publisher to her list of endeavors. The Texan was born from a copy center under the name Mt. Enterprise Texan. Always looking to expand her horizons, The Texan was released in Rusk County with 1500 copies in 2007. Now The Texan is completely online with unique markets all across the great state of Texas.

Vacation for my family means South Padre Island. From the prairies of Central South Texas to the southern tip of the state we are willing to travel 6 hours in a cramped Astro Van to reach the condo owned by my great uncle and aunt. As we cross the bridge to Padre, we roll down

Fredricksburg is the next hamlet on our Texas Hill Country tour. It is a short 78-mile drive west of Austin and 70 miles north of San Antonio through some of the prettiest scenery in Texas. It’s also only a stone’s throw from legendary Luchenbach, made famous by Willie Nelson and Walon Jennings. Fredricksburg can be

During the first weekend in October, Don Rogers, owner of Beech Creek Ranch, hosted his quarterly horsemanship clinic. Don had over 10 riders in attendance, some from as far away as Tyler. Don has been training horses in Mt. Enterprise since 1997. His love for horse and rider is evident in every clinic he leads.

Weeping For AmericaI am listening to Ronan Tynan singing God Bless America and I am weeping uncontrollably. Not because of his amazing voice, or the memories and meaning that song conjures up from my soul. I am weeping and saying repeatedly, “he is ruining our country.” He is Barack Hussein Obama. I think Mitt Romney said it

[POPUP=IMG1] Well… now I have no more excuses for eating a bit healthier. I was at Healthlink working out a few weeks ago and Claudia was chowing down on some beautiful, bright ahi tuna salad from Zedric’s located in the Castle Hills area. If you know anything about me and how my curiosity fuels TheTexanOnline.com’s

When I was a kid, I thought vegetarians were something my parents made up. I still don’t know of a single vegetarian that lives in Shiner (my hometown). Now I have friends that are Hindu, or friends that are Hippies, or acquaintances from California. I’m still a little mystified. Perhaps the dining experience in Texas

One night a few weeks ago, I decided to sleep outside. Now, during the day here, in Central South Texas, in the middle of July, in one of the worst droughts of Texas history, it gets pretty hot. Scorching, actually–blazing. But an hour after the sun sets purple and orange in the sweltering sky, the
